The Despair Faction is official AFI fan club.Found in april 2002,claims worldwide membership in excess of 25.000 fans from California to Asia,and in between.In july of 2001,following the release of the 'Art Of Drowning',the official AFI site (www.afireinside.net) launched a 'Name the fanclub' contest,calling fans to submit a name for a fan club.After about 4000 suggestions,they picked Despair Faction,and one year later they opened the fanclub.The contest winner recieved a free membership and a special recognition.

The site contains special photo galleries submitted by AFI friends and family from different times in the band's past and on into the future.DF also hosts Official AFI & DF Message Board.

The Despair Faction is run and maintaned by a group of long time AFI friends and staff members as recognizable to devout fans,as the band members themselves.Jake (known as Fritch) and Gavin are identified as the DF 'core team'.Fritch,who is also AFI's merchandise salesman,handles internal affairs of the DF,organiser special converts for members and he is also and editor of UTR magazine.Gavin maintains the DF website and is an admin of official AFI message board...
