One day
a crow had snatched a fine
piece of cheese out
of a window, and
flew with it into a high tree.
A fox saw this and
wanting the cheese
for him self, said
"Oh, crow,
-How beautiful are your wings !
-How bright your eye !
-How fine your neck !
-Your breast is the breast of an eagle
-Your claws.. I beg pardon your talons.. are a match for all the beasts of the field.
-Oh, that such a bird should be dumb and want only a voice".
The crow was pleased to hear all this. Chuckling to think how she would surprise the fox with her caw. She opened her mouth.
Down dropped the cheese which the fox snapped up.
