HUMILITY

Humility is the hall mark of a true Sikh. Gurmukhs are always humble. Guru Nanak Dev Ji says that the door of salvation is narrow and he who is humble passes through it.

IK ONKAR

Ik Onkar constitute the most significant words in Sikhism as they define God and lay the foundation for Sikhism. IK means ONE. The word ONKAR is derived from the Sanskrit word Om which consists of three syllable sounds representing the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Therefore ONKAR means God in His entirety. The word IK ONKAR emphasizes the oneness of God.

JATHEDAR

Jathedar means someone who leads a group of persons. It gained the respectability in the twentieth century because of the leadership provided and sacrifices made by persons leading Jathas (Groups). Now it is used for political leaders or social workers and the Heads of Historic Gurudwaras.
