On a similar theme, there was a Vietnamese film shown on Channel 4 many years ago which was set during the Vietnamese war and centred around a mother of a toddler daughter who was living underground so as to stay hidden from her American and anti-comunism Vietnamese enemies. I saw it and to my amazment and disgust she looked at her daughter with a blatant look of lust on her face. I later saw a discussion programme also on Channel 4, I think where a man from that part of the world, perhaps Vietmam said something like this... 'What a tragedy that the one time a Vietnamese film gets shown on British TV it contains disgusting scenes of the mother looking lustfully at her daughter. The one time the stories of those people get shown and the director does that. They were brave and proud people and they didn't do that I assure you'. My quote might not be perfect but that's very close to what he said. The scenes where we saw close-ups of the face of the leading actress as she gazed lustfully was yet another contributing factor in me and others seeing Channel 4 as an unbelievably immoral channel at the time.
