Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered and opened in 1922.
It was a major archaeological find.
An international myth, that the boy-king's tomb had a curse, was started by the press and is still talked about today.
It is thought that Howard Carter (the head of the excavation team) put out a story that a curse had been placed upon anyone who went near the tomb.
This was to deter any tomb robbers and to keep the press at bay.
However, curses were traditional in royal tombs and many of the excavation party did indeed suffer illness and even death!
The curse was supposed to take effect twenty years after the tomb was opened.
But as the evidence below shows, the curse could not have been responsible for the deaths.
