Nandu works hard as a farmer living off one crop to another, setting his eyes towards the sky praying for timely rain. However, his debt keeps rising by the day, including the worry of an unmarried sister in the family. Nandu is joined by his friend from the city, Rajaram, who comes to the village out of compulsion, but with big hope of growing a crop with limited resources. Like a good friend he comes to the rescue of Nandu, during his hard times, but that support is not enough to shoulder the burden falling on Nandu. One day, when Nandu finds all his belongings taken away from his house, he commits suicide by consuming pesticide. He breathes his last on Rajaram`s lap, who watches his tragic end helplessly.
