Well here I am week 4 of my course and I'm loving every minute. I didn't realise how much I'd missed nursing. The basics haven't changed patients and relatives are the same it's just the legal stuff really. Everyone is scared of being sued making them too frightened to go that extra mile. Years ago I was nursing a dying woman on intensive care. Her elderly mother was with her and wanted a cold drink. Being the early hours of the morning nothing was available but I had some ribena in my locker so gave her some. You couldn't do that now in case she was diabetic or it made her sick. When her family wrote in to thank the unit they especially mentioned my kindness towards their mother. All I did was share my drink. Sad isn't it that we've come to this not being allowed to go beyond the call anymore. I hope you're all well and smiling like me as always. Luv to you all. Cas.x
