Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001

Crew or equipment visible: At the start of the song "Dewana Hai Dekho" when Hrithik Roshan opens the door of the red car, the cameraman is reflected in the door.

Continuity: Before the song "You Are My Soniya", when Poo is hitting on Rohan, she is wearing two different shoes. Then in the song she is wearing two of the same shoes.

Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Years later when Rohan meets Pooja again, after he recites the tongue twister "Chandu ka Chacha," he says he finally got it. But he forgets to say the line "chandni raat mein," so he doesn't get it right.

Anachronisms: After Hrithik comes to stay at SRK's home in England, one morning Hrithik gives a lift to SRK to his office as his car tire is punctured. On the way, they put on a match commentary. The match is taking place in England (Oval) and it is morning. They say that only last over is remaining and after some time they declare that India has won. The match is ending around 9 - 10 AM so would have to have started around 2AM.

Anachronisms: Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan dance to the song "Aati Kya Khandala" in 1991. However, the song came out in 1998.

Goofs for
Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)

Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Naina returns home from Central Park, her lips say, "St Paul's Cathedral."

Revealing mistakes: During the title song, "Kal Ho Naa Ho," at the scene where Aman and Naina are dancing in the night, after Aman touches Naina with the rose, it shows him throw the rose behind him, and at the end of the embrace the rose reappears in his hand.

Errors in geography: Throughout the film, shots of New York are interposed with similar shots of Toronto. The film tries to make the viewer believe that the Toronto shots are, in fact, New York, but the architectural styles and obvious Toronto landmarks are completely different than those found in New York.

Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): At the end of the "Pretty Woman" musical sequence, Jaswinder misses the cue to begin clapping.

Continuity: When luck falls of the roof, and grabs the gutter, it bends. In the next angle, it is straight again. Again in the next angle, it is bent.

Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): During the T.V interview scene, the anchor introduces the character played by Kabir Bedi as "Commander in Chief" of the Indian Army. The "Commander in chief" of the Indian Army is always the President of India. The character played by Kabir Bedi is more likely to be the "Chief of Army Staff".

Goofs for
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006)

Errors in geography: When Dev is leaving for Toronto from Grand Central Station in NYC, he boards a SEPTA R1 train. SEPTA's R1 only serves Philadelphia, its suburbs and airport.

Errors in geography: All throughout the movie, everyone refers to the game Dev plays as football. But the setting is the US, and in the US the sport is called "soccer".

Revealing mistakes: When Dev converts the penalty shot, the long shot reveals a player going on his knees, pulling his shirt over his face, with his bare chest visible. In the next shot, a close-up shot repeats the exact same thing - only this time the actor is wearing a vest beneath his shirt.

Goofs for
Don (2006/)

Incorrectly regarded as goofs: In one scene as Don goes to the safe to lock his DVD, Edvard Munch's painting "The Scream" is seen in the background (implying he was perhaps involved in its theft from Munch Museum in 2004). However, the painting had been recovered by the release of the movie. The Filmakers cleverly used this in the UK promotion of the movie by suggesting the recovered painting was the fake, and the painting in Don's safe was the original.

Goofs for
Chak De! India (2007)

Factual errors: The word 'Gaddaar' (traitor) written with simple coal on front wall of kabir Khan's house remains intact, even after more than seven years.

Continuity: Near the end of the movie, when the Chandelier falls on Mukesh (Arjun Rampal), you see the entire Chandelier is broken, yet in the next scene you see the Chandelier still active up to Om's (Shahrukh Khan's) height, with him looking through it to see the ghost of Shantipriya.

Continuity: When Mukesh Mehra (Arjun Rampal) is hit by the falling Chandelier, he falls in front of the crowd. Later on, when the crowd has disappeared, the chandelier is miraculously fixed by the time Mukesh Mehra regains consciousness.

Bollywood (the Hindi language film industry; the label combines the first letter of the studio center Bombay with Hollywood) is sometimes touted as “the world’s largest film industry”. That may be true by number of tickets sold per year (or by the largely irrelevant number of titles released per year, if you include non-Hindi films made elsewhere in India), but it’s certainly not true by revenues. Bollywood films earn a surprisingly small fraction of what Hollywood films earn in box-office grosses.

The top-grossing Bollywood film released in 2004, the love story Veer Zaara (the title combines the names of the two lead characters), has grossed Rs. 674 million worldwide, equivalent to less than US$15.5 million at the current exchange rate. (The top grosser of 2003, Koi Mil Gaya, unkindly described as "Forrest Gump meets ET", earned even less.) Meanwhile the top-grossing Hollywood film of 2004, Shrek 2, earned more than 25 times as much. Even the 10th-ranked Hollywood release (Polar Express) earned more than 10 times as much. The current exchange rate may undervalue the rupee relative to purchasing power parity, but not by enough to explain more than a few percentage points of the difference here.

Sidebar: Amazingly, Veer Zaara earned almost as much overseas (US $2.9m; UK £2.0m; together equivalent to Rs. 289.6 m) as in India (Rs. 384.7m). Amazing, because there are only around 2 million South Asians living in the US, and a similar number in Britain, versus India’s population of 1 billion.

Business Week guesstimated in 2002, evidently counting dvd sales as well as theater tickets:

Bollywood's global annual revenues, estimated at $1.3 billion this year, are small change compared with Hollywood's $51 billion. But theaters worldwide sold some 3.6 billion tickets to Bollywood films last year, compared with Hollywood's 2.6 billion.

As the ticket-sale numbers make obvious, the reason for the box-office revenue discrepancy is that ticket prices are much higher in the US. Today first-run movies command $6-10 for a ticket at a US cinema, only Rs. 30-120 (US$0.70-2.80) at an Indian cinema

SHAHRUKH KHAN;-facts about Shahrukh that everyone might not know. Here is a sneak peak into Shahrukh's life.

2nd November 1965. In New Delhi's Talwar Nursing Home, to parents Mir Taj Muhammad and Lateef Fatima, was born a young boy. For the family, that lived in Rajinder Nagar, a middle class locality in the national capital, it was time to rejoice and celebrate the newly born.
When he was just four years of age, Shah Rukh happened to throw a rock at a neighborhood boy because of which the latter's teeth broke. Late at night that day, the child's father came to the house in an inebriated state while wielding a knife. Shah Rukh's father coolly opened the door and when this man threatened to kill his son for what he had done, he crosschecked with Shah Rukh as to whether or not he had committed the act of mischief. When the child confessed, the dad asked him to go out and explain himself to the man who was not only drunk but also armed. Shah Rukh had to go outside and apologize for his deed.
Shah Rukh had won the Raman Subramanyam Award in Class X (1982-83) for character, all round performance in studies, sports and extra curricular activities and the Sword of Honour in Class XII (1984-85) for the Best all round performance, loyalty, obedience, integrity and sportsmanship.
The college where he studied was Delhi University's Hans Raj College, and Shah Rukh did his Economics Honours from the institution between 1985-88. When Hans Raj celebrated its Golden Jubilee, the college gave away 17 shields to its alumni who had excelled in their lives and professions and Shah Rukh was one of them.
After graduating from Hans Raj, he went on to join Jamia Milia Islamia's Mass Communications Research Centre to do his masters in filmmaking and journalism.
Shah Rukh had a solid theatre background and had worked with an institution like Barry John in New Delhi.
Shah Rukh was, in fact uncomfortably possessive about his lady love (Gauri), whom he lovingly calls Gaurima. So much so that he would pick up a quarrel with her even if she let her hair down...literally. Finally, Gauri lost her cool and without informing Shah Rukh, came down to Bombay. Shah Rukh followed her to the huge city and kept looking for her around the beaches because of his awareness that she was attracted to them in a big way. Later, a cab guy advised him to go to Aksa Beach and Gorai Beach. After searching frantically, he managed to track her down when she was standing in the water! Isn't that filmi?
One of the reasons why Shah Rukh bought Mannat, his palatial bungalow, was since he wanted to have an exclusive prayer room. Shah Rukh says that if he were broke, he will sell everything except Mannat
Both the children, Aryan (13th November 1997) and Suhana (23rd May 2000) have been taught to revere the co-existence of Ganpati and Allah in the Khan household. How wonderfully they are being brought up manifests itself in the story that when Shah Rukh was having a critical neck surgery, Aryan went to the temple and said an Islamic prayer so that his father could get well soon.
Shahrukh Khan is a Muslim but celebrates Diwali and Christmas along with Eid every year. He keeps a Lakshmi Pooja every year in his office and at home. He even has a Christmas tree at home. From all the festivals Shahrukh's kids love Christmas the most.
Shahrukh Khan has the holy Quran Bismillah kept along with the idols of Indian Gods at his place. His kids pray to both the God's simultaneously.
Shahrukh Khan can be managed best only by his wife as she understands him the most. She is the only person who can command Shahrukh to do things. Infact Shahrukhs's daughter Suhana imitates Gauri Khan very well by saying in a strict voice, "Shahrukh, eat your food."
Shahrukh never asks anything for himself from God. It is always his family and his close people he asks for. But whenever he wants to ask for himself, he never goes to a temple but goes to his parent's grave. He believes that whatever he will ask there will be fulfilled and yes most of them have come true which makes Shahrukh's belief all the more strong.
Shahrukh requires a lot of his own space for himself and his near and dear ones understand that. Whenever Shahrukh is angry, he needs to be left alone or you will only make him angrier.
Shahrukh loves watching movies in the darkness of his car. He loves watching movies alone and peacefully.
Shahrukh is a complete game freak. In fact he turns everyone around him into a gaming freak. The latest game that Shahrukh is playing is Smackdown versus Raw which is a wrestling game. Shahrukh can't wait to get his hands on the new Play Station 3 as he is not an XBOX fan.
Shahrukh studied at St. Columbus School and he believes that it is the best school in the whole world not because he studied in it, but because he feels they are very disciplined.
Shahrukh still remembers his first fan who is a lady. She was his fan even before he became a film star or a famous televison star. She remembers him since his theater days. She shouted Shahrukh's name on the middle of the road when she spotted him. Shahrukh still cannot forget that moment.
For Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Shah Rukh had taken a signing amount of Rs 5,000 and did the entire film for Rs. 25,000.
Shah Rukh had signed a movie called Jadoo co-starring Raveena Tandon, Anupam Kher & Navneet Nishan to be directed by Pavan Kaul. But Shah Rukh refused to kiss Navneet who was playing a vampish role. Shah Rukh had promised himself that he would never kiss any actress on-screen. And, he has stuck to this till today.
Calcutta has a unique Shah Rukh Khan club that was founded by a Khan admirer Arnab Roy on 13th December 1995 after the release of DDLJ. The club established its own SRK museum in January 2002 and its members were thrilled when Shah Rukh himself visited them on 7th August 20.
SRK says

On Marriage
It's nice to be married. You know you come back home from twenty thousand people who are screaming and shouting for you and than you come back to your wife... I think is a great leveler.

On Gauri
I was eighteen and she was fourteen when we met. What I liked about her was that I didn't find it as difficult as I thought talking to a girl.

On Religion
Children should know about the value of God. Whether is a Hindu god or other Muslim god. So next to Ganeshji Laxmiji we have the Holy Kuran in our house.

On Parents
My Father was very sweet, soft spoken man.
He was the youngest freedom fighter for India actually. My mother was the opposite. She was outgoing and had a very attractive personality. She said I was like Dilip Kumar.

At Home
There are some unsaid rules. I will not make a phone call once I'm in the house. So you'll always see me making a phone call from the bathroom..... I close the door and then talk.

On Mumbai
I think it's the greatest city in the world. It's very important to my life and to me. I'll always be thankful that Mumbai has given me a family, and actually Mumbai has given me a life.

On Acting
For me, acting is very spiritual. It combines as sorts of soulful, religious and spiritual things that people do.

On time off
I don't get excited going out but all my friends make fun that I keep saying that but I shop the most. I keep buying gadgets and stuff and I call them my "utterly useless shopping".

On fans photographing
The only time I find people invasive is when I am eating. When I'm eating I don't like people looking at me.

On time
I think time passes by very, very fast. I don't ever have time to grow old. It's so fast. I have this feeling that I am running a few days late in life.

Public persona
There has to be now a public face very clearly. And that public face is always smiling. And I'm tired. And I'm sometimes in a bad mood. But I cannot pass that onto people

AAMIRKHAN;-Aamir Hussain Khan was born on March 14, 1965, in Mumbai, India in a family belonging to the film-industry clan. His father Tahir Hussain is a producer; his uncle Nasir Hussain was a director; his cousin Mansoor Khan also directed films. Aamir’s brothers Faisal Khan and Hyder Ali Khan too are into films with the latter awaiting his release as the leading man. He did his schooling at Bombay Scottish and later went to N.M. College.

Coming from a film background acting was always in Aamir’s blood and at a very early age he proved his abilities. Aamir began his career as a child-actor in the film Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973), when he was eight years old. His first film as an adult star was Madan Sharma’s Holi (1984) which was not quite a success. Then came Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and we knew Aamir was here to stay. QSQT was a huge success and his pairing with Juhi Chawla was loved and adored by all. Aamir was only then out of college and his role as a college boy, who is inncocent and is in love with a girl, positioned him as a teen idol.

Aamir is a perfectionist and is believed to go to great lengths to give a convincing portrayal. So he works on only one film at a time, unusual in the Bollywood film industry. His this quality paid off as ‘Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India’ was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, 2001. His list of sterling performances include Dil, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Andaz Apna Apna, Rangeela, Raja Hindustani, Ishq, Ghulam and Sarfarosh and the list continues. The versatile actor also wrote the screenplay for the film Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke and did playback singing for himself in the successful film Ghulam. His forthcoming film is ‘Rang De Basanti’ slated for release in January and he recently has signed a movie ‘Fanaah’ with director Kunal Kohli opposite Kajol.
Aamir met his ex wife Reena Dutta when both were teenagers. They married very soon while they were only in their early twenties. A popular story about their marriage is that, as both the families were against their marriage, Aamir and Reena eloped got married and then returned home. They had two children, Junaid & Ira, and led a quiet, publicity-shunning family life till Aamir got linked romantically to Kiran Rao, an assistant to director Ashutosh Gowariker.

Aamir Khan has won three Filmfare awards so far for his films Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (Filmfare Sensational Debut Award, 1989), Raja Hindustani (Filmfare Best Actor Award, 1997), Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (Filmfare Best Actor Award, 2002). He has also won Aamir began his career as a child actor in the films Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973) and Madhosh (1974). His first film as an adult was Ketan Mehta's Holi (1984).

In 1988 he got his first leading role in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, which was a huge success and launched his career. After three years of no film releases, he returned playing the title role in another historical epic Mangal Pandey: The Rising (2005) which also did well at the box office but due to its huge production costs, did not earn a huge profit.

His next release Rang De Basanti (2006), a contemporary film about patriotism was one of the highest grossing films of 2006 and was selected as India's official entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The film was not shortlisted as a nominee.
His second 2006 release was Fanaa where he played a negative role for the second time after Earth. It has also been one of the highest grossing films of the year.

Aamir went directly into films from college and made his first big hit film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak playing a college boy. Publicists tried to position him as a teen idol, every college girl's dream. In order to do so, they buried all evidence of his 1988 marriage to Reena Dutta, who (though not a professional actress and already married to him at that time) made a brief appearance in a song sequence in his first film. It was big news when the marriage was first revealed. Reena Dutta maintained a very low profile and continued her job working in a travel agency
However, Aamir's popularity survived the revelation, and his marriage to Reena seemed to have survived too. They had two children (son Junaid and daughter Aira) and led a quiet, publicity-shunning family life. Reena was even involved, briefly, in Aamir's career when she worked as a producer for Lagaan. Then in December 2002, Aamir filed for divorce. Reena took custody of the children. On December 28, 2005, Aamir married again, to Kiran Rao 26, who had been an assistant to director Ashutosh Gowariker during the filming of Lagaan.
Amir, followed with many other films in the 1990s, which had mixed success at the box office. After his debut his most successful films included Dil (1990), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992), Rangeela (1995) and Raja Hindustani (1996).
He acted as well as wrote the screenplay for the film Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke (1993). He has also done playback singing for himself in Ghulam (1998). He was highly acclaimed for his performances as the "Ice Candy Man" in Deepa Mehta's offbeat film Earth (1998) and as a dedicated cop fighting border terrorism in Sarfarosh (1999).

In 2001 he produced and starred in the period epic Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India. This film was one of the biggest hits of 2001 and was nominated for many awards including the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. 2001 also saw the release of Dil Chahta Hai, an urban film about today's Indian youth. This film was also a huge hit at the box ofFICE
We are seeing something unravel right in front of our eyes an actor by the name of Aamir Khan. I don’t see this guy ever doing a bad movie. I don’t even see his movies ever failing because people go to see his movie just because he is in it. He keeps delivering quality followed by quality. What actually shocks me is how can the Indian film industry, which is corrupt to begin with, fail to recognise a superstar that India has lacked since the demise of Amitabh Bachchan. SRK has won all the best actor awards in the ’90s, but let’s gets the facts straight.

Who has given the most hits?

Who has the best projects?

Who keeps innovating his roles?

SRK won the best actor award for a weak role in KKHH and Aamir was all but ignored for his masterful portrayal in Ghulam. Enough said. Aamir khan is the perfectionist. There is no class of Shahrukh or any Bollywood actor including Amitabh in front of Aamir. Aamir Khan isthe finest, intelligent and perfect actor the film industry has ever produced. Aamir Khan is the perfectionist. He is the most lovable and acceptable actor in the industry today. His record speaks it all. He has given super hits and hits movies with all new directors. (QSQT, JJWS & AHAT) Mannsoor Khan, (Dil, Ishq & Mann) Inder Kumar, (Rangeela) Ram Gopal Verma.

(Raja Hindustani & Mela) Dharmesh Darshan, (Ghulam) Vikram Bhatt, (Sarfarosh) John Matthew Mathan, (Raakh) Aditya Bhattacharyya, (1947 Earth) Deepa Mehta, (Baazi & Lagaan) Ashutosh Gowarikar, (Dil Chahta Hai) Farhan Akhtar and (Rang De Basanti) Rakesh Omprakash Mehra. For a change every time with even a new actress. SRK success is because he has good directors to back him up every time likes of Yash Chopra and Karan Johar with a number one heroine. Aamir Khan is one actor who believes in being an actor first and a star later. It’s disgusting to hear the media heaving so much praise on SRK’s acting skills and him being the numero uno of Bollywood.

What SRK has delivered again and again is the same repetitive characters just the costume changes. Put Rahul of K3G in dhoti and kurta and here is Devdas. His performance has nothing new. Aamir on the other hand is a great actor who believes in enacting a range of roles, each different, yet entertaining. Way to go Aamir you are the real numero uno!!! Aamir is the most intelligent actors we have today. I admire Aamir so much because, in spite of growing in the maze of the shallow Bollywood filmmaking. This young man has evolved his own creative style which is so distinctive. I feel sorry that he is in this industry where there are very few ’’real’’ filmmakers.

I just hope he is able to produce his own films so that he can give the world his best. We need more Naseeruddin Shahs, Aamir Khans, Utpal Dutts today and perhaps intelligent and articulate scriptwriters and directors. The balance that Aamir strikes between stardom and substance is a rare quality indeed. It is this more than anything else that makes Aamir what he is: a Bollywood icon without a peer.

Aamir has never allowed superstardom to overshadow the quality of his craft. Aamir’s romantic image was never as strong as SRK, that’s the reason. He did not stick upon it. There is Romantic, Comedy or Action movies made. When Aamir’s so-called romantic movies were failing he could not go to Action or comedy, so he started to look for great scripts.

Whereas SRK he could just pull through a film with his mere presence like AB did during his prime. Anyway Awards. I totally agree with Aamir’s theory of not attending the awards he thinks they are inconsistent and I couldn’t agree more with him. He had huge respect for National awards and I did too but after Saif winning. I think they are as inconsistent as Film fare awards now. I don’t know what he thinks of it. National awards have been fair in the past honouring great performances but Saif for Hum Tum?

You know how media is always like ’’Aamir stopped attending the awards when SRK won for DDLJ’’ That is just crap in capital letters! Aamir even mention in one of his interviews that he stopped attending awards post 1992 when Anil Kapoor won the Award for his mediocre performance for Beta I don’t know what happened that year but it has been since 1992. He writes his own rules, breaks them then makes them again he is a trendsetter (how many stars have followed him he sings they sing, he grows hair they do too) he gives his 100% to his entire role.

He is versatile and has guts to say no to his friends no matter how big they’ve become Farhan or Ashoutosh at same time he gives chance to new/flop director. Something that stars are not willing to do. He’s my favourite actor; I love his determination and dedication to his work. I admire Aamir as an actor, I’m obsessed with his movies and the way he works and acts in films. I think he lacks in self advertising.

For me, it is good. I admire Aamir Khan for this quality. But Bollywood is a different world. There is no place for genuine people like him. You have to proclaim yourself as a superstar or as a God or whatsoever to get that title. I feel this is the reason why Aamir didn’t get his due so far. I think Aamir is too proud of himself and he is proud of being perfectionist.

Well again media made him so and he believes that. No one is perfect. But again, he is a man with immense talent and pride, he must have a big ego, or else, how can he lead a normal life. Whatever he is or however he is as Aamir Khan, I don’t care. But as an actor, he is god. He is our Tom Hanks. He is too good. Aamir has come a long way from his QSQT days! But I feel he deserved success, and deserved failures too.

Because Aamir needed to taste the reality of life. If he tasted success too early, he would have been over confident! I like Aamir Khan because he is brave enough to do all kind of roles each one uniquely different from the other. Aamir may have had his flops, but his performances for all movies were superb. Even in Mann, Mela, and Raja Hindustani. He doesn’t need a hit to prove that he is the best actor in Bollywood.

He simply just blows you away with any role that he does. Seems AK’s versatility tempted me write on films. He the best Bollywood actor right now and he is a perfectionist. So much so that he can go to any extent to get into the character. Real performer. Real star. The BO performance of his movies has been consistent in the last 10 years and his overall success rate is just behind overrated Amitabh.

The media criticizes Aamir by saying that Aamir contacts the media and gives interviews only when his movies are on release. So what’s wrong with that? He will contact the media when it will be useful for him. Don’t the journalists contact him only when they want to and when he is useful for their magazine. So what’s wrong when Aamir does the same?

Aamir (after he became star)

THE TRADE BUZZ ON AAMIR KHAN

TOLU BAJAJ
Aamir Khan's market is rock-steady. Because you get to see an Aamir film only once in a blue moon. He has his own fan following, so his film is always assured of a good initial.

Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan are neck to neck. If at all there are any price differences, they are only on account of the maker. Naturally a Shah Rukh -Yash copra film has an edge over an Aamir Khan - Vikram Bhatt film. Mann is bound to be a hit because Aamir and Indra Kumar are a potent combination. Shah Rukh is king overseas, because his flicks like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai did whopping business there. On the other hand Aamir's Raja Hindustani and Ghulam did average business because they didn't appeal to the NRI community.

U.A. THADANI

I've secured the distribution rights for Aamir Khan's Mela and Sarfarosh for the Mumbai territory at phenomenal prices. It's as good a price as that of a Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan starrer.

Aamir's greatest advantage is that he's an under-exposed star. Naturally, the curiosity value is hundred-fold for every film of his.

Suprisingly Aamir has four releases lined up for this year - Sarfarosh, Mann, Earth, and Mela. All of them look like good box-office bets.

Today when you announce an Aamir film with even an average film-maker, all territories are closed on the day of the announcement itself.

RAMESH SIPPY

Aamir's position is very strong. I don't think the fact that he has four releases lined up this year will alter his position. He has a tremendous fan following and I'm sure all his four films will fetch a terrific initial. But how big a hit each film is, will obviously depend on the product. I personally feel no hero is bigger than the product. If the product's bad, you cannot bame a hero for its failure.

Shah Rukh is No. 1 overseas. His market is close to Rs 6 crores thanks to his super-hit romantic films. But Aamir's films also fetch Rs 3.50 to 4 crores. Aamir's biggest plus point is that he can carry a film even when the subject has innumerable limitations, like Ghulam. That's star power.

GORDON THANWANI

Aamir is definately among the top three. He does few films with good planning and doesn't believe in doing more than one shift. After Ishq, we're planning another film with Aamir. There's always a tremendous curiosity about an Aamir film. He has a thorough knowledge of the market. He knows the rules of the game.

BHARAT SHAH

Shah Rukh Khan has an edge over Aamir overseas. But in India they're on equal footing. Mela has sold at the same price as any good Shah Rukh film. Ultimately, whether it's Shah Rukh or Aamir, they need a good film-maker. Ghulam would have been a hit even if it had Shah Rukh or Salman Khan. But I'm not so sure whether Govinda could have carried off the role.

ANIL THADANI

Aamir's an intelligent guy. His career moves are terrific. No one can deny that Aati kya Khandala from Ghulam was his baby...and that it was the USP of the film. In the ultimate analysis, whoever the hero is, it's the film that sells.

HARISH SUGANDH

Aamir is a very straight-forward guy. He's above machinations and games. His film's sell the day they're announced and they also incolce a table profi. What more can one sayabout him? I don't think Aamir's four releases this year will affect his standing. Somehow the audience respects Aamir's judgement and they'll come to the theatre to see his films, be it I Sarfarosh, Mann, Earth or Mela.

JHAMU SUGANDH

Aamir Khan and I are co-producing a film being directed by Ashutosh Gowaiker. I'm a hardcore businessman and I'm getting into production with Aamir Khan because he is a safe bet at the box office.

His career moves are will thought out and I respect his opinions. Besides being a star, Aamir's a fantastic actor, he can never fail.

SHYAM SHROFF

Aamir's a good actor. No two ways about that. A star may lose his shine at the box office but an actor never fails.I don't think Aamir wanted four releases this year. It's sheer coincidence that Sarfarosh, Mann, Mela and Earth are coming at two-month intervals. Each film is of a different genre and there's tremendous curiosity about them.

I'll always want to see an Aamir Khan film, I guess the audience thinks like me too.

SALMAN KHAN;-Salman Khan, one of the leading actors of Bollywood film industry, was born on 27 december,1965 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. His full name is Abdul Rashid Salman Khan. He is the son of famous script writer Salim Khan. Salman has two brothers and two sisters. His brothers Sohail Khan and Arbazz Khan are also actors. Arpita, and Alvira Agnihotri are the sisters of salman. He was voted world's 7th best looking man and the best looking man in India by People Magazine, USA.

Salman's Acting career started with a supporting role in the film "Biwi Ho To Aisi" in 1988. His first movie as a lead character was "Maine Pyar Kiya" in 1989. It was a huge success and was one of the most grossing films in Bollywood history. This movie also brought him Filmfare Best Debut Award. It was also the debut of director Sooraj Barjatya. His second movie with the same director was "Hum Aapke Hain Koun" was also a big successful venture and still remails one of Indian highest grossing movies. Up until now Salman has acted in more than 60 movies and has won many awards for his stupendous performance. Some of his biggest hits are Saajan, Sanam Bewafa , Karan Arjun, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam etc. According to critics his best performance so far is in the movie Tere Naam as Radhe Mohan. His recent releases were Baabul and Jaan-E-Mann. Around six of his films are in production including his first Hollywood movie, Marigold: An Adventure in India.

Salman is one of the most contraversial persons in the Bollywood film industry, though some of the people who know his very well say he is infact a very kind-hearted person. He is facing trail under four cases. In 1998 he spent about one week in jail after he was arrested for allegedly killing wild animals of protected category. He is said to have killed chinkaras and black bucks, which fall under the protected wild animal category. He is also a defendant in illegal possession of arms act. On september 28, 2002, he was in headlines of news again for a wrong cause when he crashed his car onto the pavement near the American Express bakery in Bandra, where some people were sleeping. That accident resulted in the death of a man and secere injuries to three others. And there was also a case filed by the parents of Aishwarya Rai, alleging that Salman made threats against Aishwarya's family. It was the end of Salman's relation with Aishwarya Rai which lasted about two years. On April 10, 2006, Salman was sentenced to a five year prison for hunting the endangered Chinkara and was remanded to Jodhpur jail until he was granted bail on April 13. The chances are that he would have to spend a hell lot of time in prison after he has used every arm in his store to win the verdict in favour of him. If that happens that could very probably be the end of his Bollywood career.

But when You come to the other side of salman, You would have to discover some good qualities in this supposedly arrogant actor. The people, be them from film industry or his close friends, who know him closely say he is a kind-hearted person and he frequently visits sick children in hospitals, as well as donates blood. He even shares happy moments with his young friends from the communities he visits. He is said to be moody and unpredicatable but can be very caring, protective and loving. He believes in giving chances to newcomers. Whenever he is free between shots, he spares time to listen to the scripts of newcomers. He is a very close friend to actor Sanjay Dutt and he has a good friendship with actress Sushmita Sen. He was said to have dated Sangeeta Bijlani, Somy Ali. And his affair with Aishwarya Rai is a well-known one. Salman and model-turned actress Katrina Kaif are moving very closely for the present time.

Though Salman is not supposed to be a good guy as a person, as an actor he has entertained a large number of people and won the hearts of many. Let's hope everything goes well for him and he keeps entertaining the audience for a long time.
