For every 1000 people in this area one person will die of a heart attack this year. Less than 5% will survive without resuscitation and defibrillation in the first 8 minutes. A First Responder scheme can change this statistic!
Cramlington Initial Response Team (C.I.R.T) is a group of volunteers who have been trained to attend certain types of `999´ call received by the North East Ambulance Service. This is not a replacement for the Ambulance service but can be a very timely extra response in cases such as Heart Attacks (Cardiac Arrest).
All of the members of C.I.R.T are local volunteers who give up some of their spare time to provide this service. They receive no payment or expenses of any kind.
C.I.R.T depends upon local people and businesses to maintain this service, we are currently looking for sponsorship and/or donations to purchase additional equipment and to replace consumable items.
