Actaeon ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Actaeon, out in a forest hunting with his pack of hounds, came upon a fountain where Artemis and Her companions were refreshing themselves bathing in the cool water. From a supposedly safe distance, he lingered to watch Artemis in Her bath; however, after being discovered by one of the nymphs Artemis transformed him into a stag and then set his hounds on him which quickly tore him to pieces.
