Song for a Gypsy
I walk along the beach at night. The waves crasing on the white sand and depositing their foam on the rocks. A heavy mist rolls in with the sea breeze. She appears. She dances lightly up to the water. The hood of the robe falling from her head. Her red hair glistens in the mist and she spreads her arms.,as if to embrace the sea and bring the mist to her bosom. She takes to herself all the magic of the night. I sit on a rock in a field in autumn, stars glimmering in a dark sky. She appears, sitting aside the cresent moon bare feet dangling in the sky. Her eyes sparkle and outshine the stars. Her smile makes the bright moon seem pale. She stretches out her arm as if in benediction and the earth is bathed in a pale golden light. I walk through the woods on a summers day and in a clearing i see paths leading in all directions. As i wonder which to take she appears. Her eyes flash and dance and seem to hold all the wonders of the univerce. Her smile lights up the summer sky. With her dancing eyes she beckons and i feel a soft cool hand in mine. We start down a little path, the air is filled with the fragrance of roses. The laughter of children is carried by the summer breeze. A hawk swoops majestically in the sky,and in the distance a unicorn frolics in the pasture. We round a bend and a grey bearded man smiles and points to an empty chair by an oak tree before a group of young boys. She turns and her smile lights up the sky again. And then i hear her whisper softly,"Love, welcome home."
