Protests have sprung up all over the world to voice opposition to everything from human rights violations to public union's ability to collectively bargain. The protests for all intents and purposes have been a success: Power grabs by dictators in Egypt, Tunisia and Wisconsin have been overwhelmingly crushed. And it seems aggrieved groups everywhere are beginning to take notice.
In one of the boldest protests to date, astronauts aboard the space shuttle Discovery have declared that they will dock at the International Space Station, and stay there until President Obama agrees to reinstate the budget for NASA's shuttle program.
The crew of six, including Captain Rory Cornell, have all pledged to stay on the space station as long as it takes for Obama to meet their demands. When asked why they decided to strike Cornell stated via shuttle feed "Protests are so hot right now!"
Unidentified sources at Cape Canaveral, the shuttle launch site, stated that they believed something seemed awry when they loaded the astronauts luggage onto the space shuttle. Crew members packed hundreds of pairs of underwear,an Xbox 360, and picket signs that read "Houston we have a budget problem," and "get our funding back on track, then you can have your shuttle back!"
Funding for NASA's shuttle program was put on the chopping block after the last election that brought a wave of tea party Republicans to congress. The cuts were necessary to fulfill a campaign promise to cut funding for any program associated with the socialist agenda to promote myths such as evolution, science, and global warming.
When asked for comment, a Tea Party spokesman declared "You know what they call 6 liberal "astronauts" stuck in space? A good start!"
