The very first symptom that my mum experienced was just a dry tickly cough. She never thought anything of it. As time went by, even months have passed, her cough was still there. I told her to make an appointment to see her GP. Mum says that she will, but kept on putting it off. We all thought that mum was developing asthma. I had the same symptoms before, and i was diagnosed of having asthma.
About six months later, mum's cough got worse, it even kept her awake at nights. At that time she went to see her GP. After her GP checked her over, he refered her to have a chest X-ray. And again, iv been through the same thing. Me, mum and the family were so convinced that mum developed asthma, because i had the same problem, and went through the same check up procedure.
The day came for mum to get her test results. I came home from work and mum was not back from the hospital yet. I was a bit worried, so i pick up the phone to call them to find out what is going on. At that time, mum came home. She told us that they found dark shadow in one of the lungs, but doctors were still unsure. They took fluid out of her lungs to be tested, so that is another week wait for the results.
The day has come for her test results. I was at work, so on my lunch break i phoned my mum. She told me the test results. Its cancer. Its in the lungs and in the liver. I couldnt believe it. So thats how it all started.
