The talented Mister Ripley - review
The Talented Mr.Ripley (1999)
-4.5 MAGICstars-
Jazz,a bit of thriller and a psychological drama. This is the cocktail
Anthony Minghella invited us to when he made this adaptation after
Patricia Highsmith's 1955 novel. The movie was nominated for 5 Oscar
awards.
How many of us wouldn't like to throw our past into a basement and
forget about it,so we could go on with our lives?
Tom Ripley (Matt Damon) is a frustrated youngman who tries be a good
friend to Dickie (Jude Law) and Dickie's girlfriend (Gwyneth
Paltrow). But he ends killing this guy, taking his identity and,in order
to cover this up,Tom commits one more murder.
Tom Ripley's not a cold criminal. He's just a person who made some
mistakes;he would like to talk about it but the key from the basement
seems not to be anywhere around...
