its finally happened. GPRS is being charged for!

it started 10th june.heres wot u need to know....u will still get 1mb of GPRS a month 4 free provided u top up £10 per month. o2 hav told me that this works out 2 b about 150-200 pages, it depends on wot content the page holds. howeva, i dont know anyone who has got it yet. i got a email from o2 to say i had to change my tariff to get the 1mb free by dialling 2425 and following instructions, i did this and got a txt nxt day 2 say i wasnt eligible? eh? any1 know wot thats about, will look into it more, watch this space. in the meantime, u still get ur 300mins free on GSM. anyway, Afta ur free time u will be (if u get it!) charged £2.35 for every 1mb used. Again, depending on content, this works out about 1-2pence per page. (like this page u r readin now, counted as 1) o2 r also doin a bolt-on 4 GPRS. It will cost £4 and will get u 5mb or about 1000 pages. We hav been told by sources that buyin bolt ons allows o2 2 alter ur sim and u may lose ur free txts.so b careful. i have tested chatrooms and they work out about 1p a min. u can leave any other GPRS news or comments here. If u turn the images when u don't really need them it will cost u less movin images cost alot so turn them off (sassikat_2)

My boyfriend and i got free wap settings for gprs. Mine work his don´t, the only reason we can think of is, my boyfriend had to phone o2 about upgrading his phone i´ve never phoned them, so were guessing when you phone them they mess on with your sim card. Just seems strange that i´ve never had to phone them and the settings work fine on my phone (vicjj33)

If u have a genie sim card marissa22, u wont get charged til u use up ur free allowance.. better still, they may have put it off 4 another month (woohoo!). If anyone knows wot is going on, plz let us know. (lyonsden23)

I heard from o2 website that gprs isnt free from 1st april but u get 300 free pages per month and for £4 can bolt on 1000 pages a month. not as good as free but cheap ish [laura jane] (laurajane_donnelly)

i talked to a woman that works for a o2 call centra and she said that GPRS is free and will stay free. hope that helps u out (ksmith2226)

Wel apparently if u leave the APN (access point name) blank u get it free regardless (reassuringly)

There is also reports that o2 is ment 2 b bring out another genie sim card with 600 free msg, 300 min free inter net and 300 free min of call credit 4 £25 top-up a month.Can any 1 tell me that its true. (wapitout)
