After Sasuke Uchiha's defection, the remaining members of Team 7 are formed into Team Kakashi. Sai is added to the team as Sasuke's replacement while Yamato, although originally meant to be a temporary leader of the team, has joined as additional leadership.

Yamato (Yamato) acts as additional leadership for Team 7, and since his introduction has joined the team in all of it endeavors. "Yamato" is actually a code name given to him for the purposes of leading Team 7. His real name is Tenzo (Tenzō), though he seems to prefer going by his code name. Shortly after his birth Yamato was kidnapped for the purposes of becoming a test subject of Orochimaru. Orochimaru injected Yamato with the First Hokage's DNA in the hopes that he could replicate the First's Mokuton techniques. Orochimaru fled Konoha before he could finish his experimentation, but thought that all of his test subjects had died. Yamato, however, was the lone survivor, and found himself endowed with the First's abilities. This allows Yamato to create and manipulate wood for varying purposes, such as making copies of himself or capturing others. As a result of being able to use Mokuton, Yamato can also perform earth and water-based jutsu, though Mokuton comprises the bulk of his arsenal. His Mokuton abilities are the primary reason for his assignment to Team 7, as he can use them to suppress the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox's influence over Naruto Uzumaki if need be.
Yamato is a member of the ANBU, where he once served under the guidance of Kakashi Hatake. His exemplary performance record caused the Third Hokage to have great faith in him, something that the Third's successor, Tsunade, has retained. Like other ANBU members, Yamato projects a calm, stoic demeanor in stressful situations. Despite this, he can also be quite laid back when not on duty, and is not above using his Mokuton techniques for creature comforts such as making a house to "camp out" in. While he has been good natured so far, Yamato claims to be a different sort of leader than Kakashi, one who is not above "ruling by the use of terror" when his team misbehaves. Aside from his obviously intimidating skills as a ninja, however, this "terror" has so far primarily consisted of casting a creepy "ghoul-eyes" expression directed at his charges, which seems more humorous than terrifying. Naruto, however, is easily creeped out by it.
Sai

Sai Sai) is the replacement of Sasuke Uchiha in Team 7. The name "Sai" is given to him for the purposes of joining the team, his actual name being unknown. He was recruited at a young age by Root, which trained him to have no emotions so as to make it easier for him to accomplish missions. This lack of personality causes Sai to meet with hardship upon joining Team 7, as he makes the mistake of insulting the other members in an attempt to seem sociable. He tries to seem more caring by smiling, though his teammates come to dislike it due to his obvious insincerity. After spending more time with his team Sai comes to appreciate bonds, particularly the bond that exists between Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha. Wanting to experience bonds for himself, Sai sets out to make as many bonds as he can. His initial attempts consist of giving people pet names, though his habit of calling people as he sees them ("fat", "ugly", etc.) finds little success. Realizing that people dislike hearing how they actually look, Sai begins to say the opposite of how he sees them, such as calling Ino Yamanaka "beautiful". With names proving successful, Sai has since made attempts to be helpful to others, though his attempts have thus far been unwanted by those he is trying to help.
Sai is a talented artist, and claims to have drawn thousands of pictures. Despite the magnitude of pictures he has drawn, his lack of emotion makes it impossible for him be inspired to give something a title, and thus all of his works are nameless. Sai's drawing ability is also the source of his jutsu; by drawing things with a brush on his scroll he is able to bring his creations to life, giving them an increased size and the ability to move. His Super Beasts Imitation Picture (Chōjū Giga) allows him to create birds that he can use for flight and lion-like creatures that he can use for attack. Likewise, by creating an Ink Clone (Sumi Bunshin) of himself, he can perform a reconnaissance of an area without actually endangering himself. Sai can also transform words he writes on his scroll into small animals that seek out their target and revert back to words upon arriving, giving Sai an easy way to communicate.

Yamato sebenarnya baik dan mencintai perdamaian. Tapi jika sudah marah Yamato bisa mengeluarkan muka terornya yang ditakuti Naruto. Yamato memiliki tampang yang mirip dengan Hokage Pertama. Ketika menjalankan misi bersama tim7, Yamato dapat membuat sebuah rumah besar dari kayu dan mengatakannya sebagai tempat berkemah, sementara Sakura menyangkalnya dan mengatakan bahwa itu tidak bisa dikatakan berkemah. Dia berbeda dengan Kakashi dalam hal metode pengaturan tim, dia menggunakan "Pengendalian dengan Teror" dalam disiplinnya. Dia bahkan mengancam akan mengkandangkan timnya jika tidak bisa akur satu sama lain.
Kekuatan Yamato
Sebagai pembawa gen Hokage Pertama, ia memiliki kekuatan untuk menggabungkan chakra jenis air dengan jenis tanah untuk menjadi elemen pokok. Ia juga memiliki kekuatan untuk mengontrol kekuatan Jinchuuriki Naruto.

Dia adalah seorang ANBU dari roots yang tidak memiliki perasaan. Kemunculan sai dianggap sebagai pengganti sasuke yang membelot ke pihak Orochimaru.
Latar Belakang
Sai adalah seorang ANBU yang berasal dari divisi roots. Motto roots adalah tidak memiliki perasaan, teman, rumah, dan masa lalu. Yang mereka punya hanyalah misi. Sehingga membuat Sai tidak memiliki kemampuan untuk merasakan dan mengekspresikan emosi. Nama Sai sendiri adalah codename yang diberikan danzo kepadanya, sedangkan nama aslinya tidak diketahui.Awalnya di Roots, Sai bertemu dengan seorang "teman" yang dianggap sebagai kakaknya yang kebetulan juga memiliki hobi menggambar. Dia sangat senang berharap dapat bersama-sama dengan "kakaknya" menjalani misi bersama-sama. Namun sayang, kakaknya kemudian meninggal karena suatu penyakit yang membuat Sai sendirian lagi dan menjadi tidak berperasaan kembali
Karakteristik
Sai berperawakan langsing dan lumayan kurus. Dia memakai baju hitam dengan lengan asimetris, menggunakan sarung tangan, dan bajunya terbuka di bagian pusar. Rambutnya lurus dan hitam, matanya juga hitam. Dia selalu menunjukkan senyum buatan, karena dia mempelajarinya di buku bahwa senyum dapat mencairkan suasana dan dapat menipu orang. Mulutnya juga sangat kotor, dia sering mengatakan hal-hal kotor tanpa ekspresi sedikitpun, sehingga membuat Naruto dan Sakura sangat jengkel kepadanya. Sakura sangat tidak menyukai sifatnya yang satu ini dan menghajarnya sekali karena menghina Sasuke.Hobi Sai adalah menggambar, namun dari sekian ratusan gambar yang Ia buat, tidak ada satupun gambar yang diberinya nama karena Ia tidak merasa apapun pada saat menggambar.
Kemampuan
Kemampuan sai termasuk unik, dia menggunakan tehnik yang bisa membuat benda yang dilukisnya menjadi nyata dengan medium kertas khusus. Dia bisa membuat tikus, burung, harimau, bahkan menghilang dengan medium ini. Biarpun tidak seekstrim kibaku nendo milik deidara, tetapi tetap bisa mematikan.
