Today is a very mixed day for me.
I´m very upset about this killing of Osama bin Laden, really, really upset, specially when I hear the americans got the news about his address through waterboarding a guy in Guantanamo, and that he had no weapons when he was shot. Of course the americans explain that in his entourage there were armed men - this is what I would have said, too, in their place. But there´s still the question: am I allowed to kill someone in a foreign country? Am I allowed to get informations by torture? NO - of course not, it´s violating just a few international laws at the same time.
What if I´d do that as a private person? Go to another man´s house and killing his guest? And then telling everybody it kind of happened accidentally, because if I had made plans I´d really go to jail and they´d throw the key away after locking me in? We don´t need an answer to these questions: laws seem only to be for you and me, but not for America.
The only good which can come out of this is that even the most racist americans now can be sure that it´s not the colour of skin which makes a good or a bad person...there´s no difference between obama and the presidents before him. Pop - goes the dream bubble that he´d change anything to better in his country. And Guantanamo he didn´t close either...
I´m disgusted beyond words through all this, the easy-to-detect-lies, the easy-to-see-through-explanations, the gladness people show because someone was killed.
Just because a single guy from the islamic world tried to answer the americans in their own language they declared a war on this guy and this is the explanation they used when it came to enter Afghanistan and Pakistan. It´s cheap, it´s low, it´s BAD when a whole nation reacts in this way.
I hope there will be others to put the USA in the place where they belong...and I hope it will happen during my life time.
