The American magician lecturer and author Nancy Watson cites her first experience of magic at the age of 15 as a good example of how magic can manifest in the material world.
In December 1961 Nancy was working as a professional actress in a small production and had developed a crush on an older male member of the cast.
When the play closed she was afraid that she would not see him again and so decided to work a simple rite that would ensure she would meet him on a specific date in the near future.
She chose 1pm on February 24, 1962
Some weeks later she was invited to a theatrical gathering on February 24.
The ritual had worked but she had forgotten to specify that he should recognize her when he saw her!
The next time she saw him was on February 24 the following year and a year later on February 24, 1964, after which her romantic facination with him had faded and the bond was broken.
After that, she never saw him again.
As she walked into the theatre Nancy noticed the time, 12:59, and a moment later was greeted enthusiastically by the man who incorrectly addressed her as "Judy".
