Is it fair that the media control what we think and how we behave. Mass coverage of celebrities and their endless crazy weight loss endeavours have influenced a large proportion of the population, young girls and boys with nice shapes are made to believe they are "fat" or become obsessed with their weight to avoid the calamity. In extreme cases of dancers and models the petite are told to lose weight and aim for the size zero.
Its a proven fact that people deprived of food for a prolonged period of time, when able to eat normally again go the opposite way and over eat for a much longer period as the body's natural survival instinct kicks in. Can we therefore hold the thin craze responsible for some of the obesity problems in the western world.
As we become increasingly obsessed with weight we inadvertantly pass this unhealthy viewpoint onto the younger generations who then take the next step in the direction of extreme obsession. Where will it go next? Why cant people live and let live and be amused by, and revel in the differences of people instead of trying to force everyone else into moulds they dont fit in? Why are we offering our descendants a poisoned apple instead of loving guidance? I know what it can do and i have suffered at the hands of this poison, although i dont abuse my body anymore i still have the long term effects mentally from it. Who knows if those scars will ever heal.
