I'm sure we've all by now heard the 2o12 myth. The end of the mayan calendar and when the planets align in December 21, 2o12 thus causing unfortold devastation. Hmmm....really? Forgetting the fact that nobody knows for sure why the calendar ends, like maybe the guy died or whatever! Did you know the planets align EVERY YEAR?! We're still kicking aren't we?
Let's move away from paranoia (and maybe hopeful thinking on the part of some lol) and let me pose this question, are you confident in modern-day astronomers?
I know they don't tell us everything and live in a world, in part, of hypothesis but i trust their intelligence.
What they have seen in the universe's farther regions is a gigantic, possibly larger than the theoretical asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs, is heading our way and on Friday the 13th, in April, in 2o29 this asteroid, dubbed "Apophis", will nearly collide with Earth. This is fact. Scientists have no clue how an object of this size flying past Earth will effect our planet but they do know that because of gravitational force, Apophis will come back towards us 7yrs later, in 2o36.
Now the natural American-gun-toting instinct would be, "blow it up!" It's such a ridiculous suggestion it makes me bust out laughing that ppl are still so uneducated lol
As of this moment, we are helpless but scientists are working out a way to deflect the asteroid so that it never becomes a meteor! Their window to avoid is a 6oo foot space.....i could go into greater detail but i think i've already lost ur attention lol so if this TRUE topic interests you do some research, its well worth it and hey the videos of what would happen if it hit are very scary and awesome to watch! ;)
I found a clip of an explanation:
