Kamptee or kampthi as it now known was founded in 1821when the BRITISH established a military cent. on the banks of the KANHAN river just below the confluence with the PENCH and KOLAR river. The town quickly become an importent contre for trade however with the arrival of the railway in the late 19th century. This importance dwindled as trade NGP.
It has an area of 73701, the town has 3 cinema GOYAL, SHRI, and SUDAMA.To thriving market, GUJRI BAZAR and SINDHI CHAAL both over 100 year old. There are two long bridge over the kanhan river. One is lyrical railway bridge of construction. The other, much older, is a road bridg with 12 moronsy semi-elliptical archer supported on tall moronsy.
