Gita. The area where Kuru dynasty lived was called Kurukshetra. Also known as Brahmavedi or Brahmavarta (Land of Brahma) in early literature. The antiquity of Kurukshetra as a place of divine sacrifice performed by Gods is about 3000 years old. During the Gupta period, Kurukshetra developed as a seat of political power. During the 9th and 10th
centuries Kurukshetra formed a part of Pratihara Empire.
