Review: 5 children and it

(a new movie!)

Synopsis:

With their father away at war and their mother nursing the wounded, five children from London are sent away to stay with their Uncle in his dilapidated mansion by the sea.

While exploring, the children find a secret passage under the house that takes them to a strange beach where they accidentally dig up an 8,000 year old sand-fairy named "It".

It, although ancient and irritable, grants them a wish a day, lasting until sunset. The children soon learn that it's very hard to think of really sensible wishes, and It derives great satisfaction in misinterpreting wishes to cause maximum devastation.

"The sole bright spot on a lacklustre canvas is comedian Eddie Izzard..."What the critics are saying:

"The sole bright spot on a lacklustre canvas is comedian Eddie Izzard, whose semi-improvised contributions as 'It' - the film's 8000-year-old, wish-granting fairy - recall the inspired lunacy of Robin Williams' genie in 'Aladdin'."
- Nev Pierce, BBCi Film

"...recycles all sorts of shattered childhood memories. The title hints at most. It's a ghastly film."
- James Christopher, The Times Online

"Izzard ends up working doubly-hard in an effort to carry the film, but unfortunately he's just got too many passengers."
- Gary Panton, Movie Gazette

In other words- it SUCKS
