Afta vocalis andrew wood overdosed on heroin in 1990 guitarist stone gassard n bassist jeff ament assembled a new band briingin in mike mccready on lead guitar n recordin a demo with soundgardenz matt cameron on drums. Thankz 2 future pearljam drummer jacl ironz, the demo found itz way 2 a 25yr old san diego surfer named eddie vedder, who overdubbed vocals n original lyrics n was subsequently invited 2 join the band ( then christened monkie blaylock afta nba player ).
