The Game
The game and its objectives
The game of snooker is played with a total of twenty two coloured balls (fifteen reds, six colours and the white) which are positioned in exactly the same way at the begining of every game. The white, known as the cue ball, is used alternately by both players and can be placed anywhere in the D for the opening stroke of the game, but from that point onwards it must be played from where it comes to rest.
The object of the game is to amass a greater number of points than your opponent. Points are scored in two distinct ways either by potting balls into the tables´s six pockets, or by penalties.
Each player must initially attempted to strike a red. When the player succeeds in potting the red he must then play at a colour.
If the nominated colour is potted, it is not left in the pocket but replaced on its own spot before another red is attempted and so on, alternating reds and colours untill all the reds have been potted.
