Have you forgotten how SRK looked like in the early years of his career? Have you forgotten how he acted at that time? After about a decade of the superstar's being a superstar, here is a film which will take you to those days when SRK was just Shahrukh Khan. No King or Badshah title was attached to him. But is this all for a film?
It is really a clever idea for a producer and director to release a too old SRK movie to release now, when he has become the box office King, with his every releases of last couple of years (Devdas, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Chalte Chalte) raising storm in the box office. So, why not take the advantage of the star power? But the thing the filmmakers should know is that a film does require something more without a supreme lead cast,
Shah Rukh Khan-Raveena Tandon.
If you want me to comment on the film in a word, I would like to say its one of the weakest films I have ever seen. From every sides, be it story, screenplay, dialogue, cinematography or choreography.
SRK was also not the real SRK though the charming smile and expressions were on his mouth. But you can't find the ever freshness of SRK in him for which he is supremely known for. But the oddest thing is SRK's voice being dubbed by another artist. Though the film-makers tried their level best to make it close to real SRK voice, even a starter would make it out in a few minutes as it didn't have even a drop of Shah Rukh's magical voice.
Raveena looked odd too. But she bears her role nicely. That may be because, the actress did not require much things to do in the film.
Among the others, none could stand out.
Choreography was per average. Cinematography could not reach even the average level. But, music is the only thing where the film works.
"Yaadein Tere Yaadein" & "A Dil Hai Shisha Na Tota" are the best tracks from the movie. They have the ability to make a strong impact in audiences' mind though they seemed to get inspired by the music of some classic films like "Yaashul". We can also find our real Shah Rukh Khan in that two song sequences.
The story gave a poor show. This kind of story might work in the past. But not now. This is sometime a story of SRK-Raveena and sometime of another. Despite being the lead actor & actress SRK & Raveena have hardly shared screen space. Even a romantic song was picturised on two child artists! Screenplay was bad. But the dialogues sometimes worked. The length of the film was not lengthy but it could be reduced to give the film more pace. There was no U turn in the full film. It was a slow and sometimes very boring movie. There is even no individual scene which can bring smile to your face.
On the whole the movie is nothing more than a hotch-potch.
Inspite of having the box office king in the lead the movie doesn't have anything to attract cinegoers of modern time.
So, It's box office result can easily be foreseen: One of the only few flops from SRK in recent couple of years.
