Red Chillies Entertainment's MAIN HOON NAA marks one of the best choreographers of the industry, Farah Khan's debut as director. And guess what! Farah chooses the mantra of unlimited entertainment for her first film! Her directional debut MAIN HOON NAA is a hardcore blue masala entertainer!
An ambitious project named Milaap has been taken by Army chief General Amarjeet Bakshi (Kabir Bedi) which will pave the way for the most awaited Indo-Pak friendship. But some people don't want the project to be successful. Among them, the strongest is Raghavan (Sunil Shetty) who wants to stop the project at any cost. He challenges General Bakshi to kill her daughter Sanjana (Amrita Rao) if Project Millap won't be postponed. General Bakshi sends his most reliable and the best officer Major Ram Prashad Sharma (Shah Rukh Khan) for her daughter's security whose life is at stake. Ram goes to her college as a student. He has another mission with him, to fulfill his father's last wish of bringing his
first wife (Kirron Kher) & her son Laxman (Zayed Khan) back. But will Ram be successful in these missions?
Watch the film to know the answer.
Well. MAIN HOON NAA is not only a pack of masti & fun. It also deals with serious subjects like Indo-Pak friendship & terrorism. And Farah proves her talent by handling all these subjects brilliantly. Her narration of the theme is flawless. She perfectly knew her target audiences & made the movie fully for them which should bring her tremendous praise.
Anu Malik's music is outstanding. The title track, its sad version, Chale Jaise Hawan are the best tracks. Tumse Milke Dil Ka, Tumhe Jo Maine & Yeh Fizain also have the ability to take place in your lips after the first listening. But we very often see a well tuned music to be told upon by improper handling. But how can it happen when Farah Khan is in charge? Her choreography has taken the music to a new level.
"Tumse Milke Dilka" & "Gori Gori" are the best choreographed songs. The title track & Yeh Fizain are well filmed. The end credit is exceptional. It will surely make you come out from the dark auditorium smiling.
The car chasing by rickshaw will surely be liked by all the kids from 10 to 60. It's a brilliant idea.
But the last fight between SRK & Suniel Shetty doesn't leave any impact. Farah should knew that it was one of the highpoints of the enterprise & it should be made a visual treat by using stunning visual effects & professional stunts. The slow motions in the fight was not necessary at all.
Also, the second hour is lengthy. Some scenes should be deleted to hold the audiences like magnet.
V Manikandan's cinematography is first rate.
Editing by Shirish Kunder is fully perfect for the first half. But did he go for a vacation or was so charmed by his wife's work that he forgot to use his knife at the second hour?
Now to the performances.
Shah Rukh Khan is not known for hardcore masala films. But the superstar proves why he is called the Bollywood Badshah. His performance is an answer to them who believe the actor should only do films like KABHI KHUSHI KABHI GHAM & KAL HO NAA HO. He was stunning as Major Ram. It's hard to think anyone portraying the role without him.
Shushmita Sen, despite being the female lead, hasn't got much screen space. She carries her role with confidence. Her chemistry with SRK is mind-blowing. These two should work more together.
Zayed Khan didn't get the bus right with his debut film. But seems that, here he has rediscovered himself. Sharing screen space with an actor like Shah Rukh Khan & making his presence felt is not at all a simple ability.
Amrita Rao is lovable. It's no doubt, her finest work to date.
Boman Irani is a complete screen stealer. He was excellent in the role of a professor with weak memory. Bindu & Satish Shah add fun to the film. Rakhi Sawant is okay. Murli Sharma as Khan is well. But Sunil Shetty has rocked in the negative role. Naseeruddin Shah leaves an impact in his very short appearance. Kirron Kher is fantastic once again.
On the whole, MAIN HOON NAA is a roller coaster ride of wholesome entertainment, a commercial film at its best with some power packed performances.
It also marks the born of a supremely talented woman in the world of men.
Farah Khan is a winner from all the sides.
MAIN HOON NAA has everything in its side to raise a storm at the box office.
Superhit!
