The project has finally been revealed with all the clouds being cleared. It is now sure that Farhan Akhtar will come back with the sequal of Don. And the artists will be same. Obviously, lead role 'Don' will be played by Shah Rukh Khan. Priyanka Chopra has already signed for the leading lady. Boman Irani and Arjun Rampal have also signed for key roles. Producer Mr.Ritesh has cofirmed the news and said that,
"Don 2 will start from where Don ends."
It has not yet been confirmed when the shooting of Don 2 will start. But Mr.Akhtar has to wait as Shah Rukh Khan is passing a very busy time now. After Aditya Chopra's "Rab Ne Bana De Jodi" he will work for KJo's "My Name Is Khan". So, it is sure that before the middle of the next year it is impossible to start the movie. According to the producer, they will be looking for April 2010 for the movie to release.
It was informed from a source that, the producers of 1968 classic Don wanted to produce the sequal by themself with Amitabh Bachan in the title role rather than allowing Farhan Akhtar to work with Shah Rukh Khan. As Farhan has no copyright over the film, it was not possible for him to make the sequal of his 2006 remake "Don-The Chase Begins Again". Now with this announcement it is sure that we will find the perfect actor for the sequal. There was also confusion about the female lead. A source close to Mr.Akhtar informed that it would be Susmita Sen to act in Don 2. They added that, even in Don first choice of Farhan was Susmita. But he roped Priyanka because he wanted to make a new pair.
However, the present of Isha Koppikar (who plays Don's girlfriend in the 2006 hit Don) has not yet been confirmed. Farhan Akhtar wasn't available for his comment.
