His first film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is still running at a hall in Mumbai after 13 years of it's release. His second film Mohabbatein was also a huge blockbuster. Both the movies were also huge critically acclaimed. But if critics are to be believed, Aditya Chopra's third directional venture Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi won't join them as a movie which will remain fresh in our memory for more than a decade.
The movie released on Friday is now sitting on C+ with score of 57% on the basis of critic's review [According to the Allbollywood.com scale]. From the total 22 reviews,13 are positive 3 are average & 6 are negative.
On comparison to the last film from Chopra camp, Veer-Zaara, it's much lower. Veer-Zaara recieved an impressive B+ with only one review going negative.
As for actor Shah Rukh Khan, it is his worstly reviewed film after Don-The Chase Begins Again which also got a C+ scoring 56%.
Taran Adarsh, reviewer of one of the most popular Bollywood websites indiafm.com has given the film only 2 out of 5 though he praised SRK & Anushka's performance very much & titled SRK's performance as "incredible".
But Subash Jha from another popular Bollywood website allbollywood.com praised the movie greatly and said that it was a complete family package worth watching. He gave the film 3.5 on 5.
But the best thing is normal audiences like the movie a lot. Indiafm user's rating average was impressive 4.67 on 5.
Coming out from the hall, many claimed it as the best of the year.
But there are many reviews to come. We have to watch them to know if SRK-Adi's comeback has become able to reach the sky limit expectation.
Update: 1/1/2009:
All the reviews have been arrived and we have selected 36 of them which abide by our rules & regulations. From the total 36 reviews, 23 are good, 5 are average & 8 are bad. So, the movie at last has got an impressive B scoring 60%.
Here are some important ones:
[All the ratings are out of 5]
Glasham: 4
BBC: 4
Radio Sargam: 4
Bollywood Mantra: 4
srkzone: 4
Planet Bollywood: 3.8
Rediff: 3.5
IANS: 3.5
Mumbai Mirror: 2
Indiafm: 2 [Reviewer of this site (Taran Adarsh) has faced a huge protest for his review. Many have claimed him as a fake & crap reviewer as he has given Aamir's GHAJINI 4.5 out of 5. And that was two days before the film actually released! But we haven't heard about any special screening of the film for the critics. So, the question is, where he saw the film two days ago? On Aamir's lap at his drawing room? Or Aamir sent a DVD specially for him?
Also, the surprising fact is, in his first review the name or part of Jiah Khan (who played one of the central roles of the movie) was completely missing. Taran added it after the film actually released. This happens perhaps the first time in his more than a decade career. But why? What's the truth?]
