Shah Rukh Khan is called "India's global superstar" because of his unbelievable popularity outside India. He has again proved it as his latest release Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi grabbed a powerful $1.2 million in North America in just three days. Trade experts believe that it must have easily grossed over $3.5 million in 3 days outside India.
RNBDJ is now on number 15 on the North America box office chart led by Keanu Reeve's The Day Earth Stood Still which grossed $31 million in it's first weekend.
But this is only because, The Day Earth Stood Still has been released in 3500 theatres while Rab Ne in just 105. If we calculate the per theatre average, The Day's figure will stand on $8857.142 while Rab Ne will have an impressive $11428.571 which is much higher than The Day Earth.
But the big thing is that most mainstream publications of USA welcomed the film warmly.
Rachel Saltz of The New York Times titled the movie as soft & sweet.
She also called it as a refreshing one.
So, King Khan & Aditya Chopra combination after 8 years, is not only a winner in India, but also abroad.
