Called Ether in some Wiccan traditions. Spirit is set in the centre of the ritual space which we decorate with purple or white. We use spider and web symbols and totems denoting divine 'magickal' patrons such as Hecate and decorate with quartz crystals, threads and distaffs.
Working with the element of Spirit requires an understanding of its function within our everyday lives, which calls for imagination and a willingness to set aside preconceived ideas.
Spirit - connection - is the soul of formation and interdependence. Because it weaves irrevocable change, it is often expressed as transformation. As with love or courage, we recognize its effects rather than a separate, physical presence.
Spirit oversees and takes part in the birth and death of stars. It is present in our everyday existence, joining Earth to sky, cobweb to tree and people to each other. When we look at a web we see the thread and the woven pattern.
What we perceive as connections are actually threads that have been placed in a particular way. Connection itself does have a separate physical presence outside of the web's shaping. Thus it is with Spirit.
When you are ready to step into the spiritual path of Wicca, ask Spirit to reveal a connection, a truth, a way forward. Be patient and your answer will come.
