Tom Clancy´s Splinter Cell | jiggos

Tom Clancy´s Splinter Cell
Tom Clancy´s Splinter Cell, I don´t like it, but it´s not that bad at all.

One of my colleagues said ´Blimey, do they still make games like this?´. To be honest, he´s right, it´s the sort of game you may have played years ago on your Spectrum, it´s got simple clunky graphics, slightly non fluid movement and just looks generally tired. Having said that I still think the graphics and playability are better than the widely touted Pandamonium.

Ewan´s been pushing for me to do this review for weeks, but every time I load the game I manage to find something more interesting to do elsewhere, which I guess says it all...

Anyway back to the plot, you the player are black-ops agent Sam Fisher and your goal is to stealthly navigate your way around a building or past armed guards and cameras which you accomplish by trotting around the scenery using all the standard platform game jumps, crawls, swings from pipes etc. The limited width of the N-Gage screen is overcome by a panning view, when holding down the four key it´s possible to move the area of vision around without moving your man.

There are a number of different missions, each progressively tougher, and two different Bluetooth modes for two players gaming; a team mission and a sniper mode both of which involve you working together to defeat the enemy.

Now I´m sure that someone out there enjoys this sort of game. Certainly going by the sales figures this is likely, but I´ve yet to meet them. So despite the fact I don´t like it, someone out there definitely does and as the game is technically fine I´m going to give it 62%
